KDE Kate Find Tool

One frustrating feature of KDE Kate is the Find tool search parameters are restricted to each document. Toggling to a different document does not retain the current search terms used in the previous document. Searching the web finds other people complaining but no remedy. Many people search the same term across multiple open documents. This is a standard feature in most if not all GUI text editors.

KDE Kate retains a search history but does not seem to always carry across individual documents.

Likely there is a reason for this peculiar behavior, but in several decades of using GUI text editors this is the first time experiencing this obtuse design. Limiting the Find tool to each document session should be a configurable user option.
