Modern Day Tech Writing

I enjoy working as a Linux admin, but I yearn to return to tech writing. Sadly, many of the related job postings I browse are about selling — in my opinion — useless products. Job postings often require search engine optimization (SEO) skills.

Patooey.

I want my writing to be useful, not a pitch for a snake oil product.

When I worked in the tech writing field I wrote maintenance and operations procedures in the power industry. My writing was useful because people depended on the content to perform their jobs in an efficient and safe manner. My procedures helped other people. Nothing was being sold.

Maybe I'm a dinosaur.
