Another MATE Quirk

When I use Midnight Commander in the mate-terminal, often I end up with weird characters in the terminal title bar and tab titles. I have tinkered with locales to no avail. Using a different terminal resolves the problem.

I am more or less now inclined to think that MATE is, well, just not that polished. The menu opening delay irritates me daily. I am now looking at alternate desktop environments. Desktops never should get in the user’s way.
