Creating LibreOffice Draw Gallery Themes

As I continue my journey with creating network diagrams, I ran into a challenge with using the freely available Cisco network objects. The objects come in a zip file. There is a simple trick to use those objects — create a new theme in the LibreOffice Draw Gallery.

  1. Download the zip file.
  2. Create a new directory in the desired computer or network location. For example, cisco_icons.
  3. Unpack the files into the new directory.
  4. Open the LibreOffice Draw Gallery (View->Gallery).
  5. At the top of the Gallery dialog, select the New Theme button.
  6. In the respective pop-up Properties dialog General tab, provide a name for the theme, such as Cisco.
  7. In the respective pop-up Properties dialog Files tab, select the Find Files button.
  8. Find the directory containing the Cisco network objects.
  9. Select the dialog Add All button.

Follow the same steps for the Nice Network Stencils collection.
