Is anybody truly surprised?

Google Has Quietly Dropped Ban on Personally Identifiable Web Tracking.

My guess is they were already doing this.

Should everybody pay attention to Chicken Little? Probably not. Yet I am glad I never succumbed to any of the bait dangled by the Google folks.

Data mining and surveillance have gone beyond creepy. These pursuits are now a disease. Long gone are the days when web site owners shared information and knowledge in an altruistic manner and did not try to monetize every visitor.

Don’t do evil. I don’t have the energy to snort a cynical, “Ha!”
