Firefox and Third Party Cookies

The Mozilla folks like to swagger with their alleged efforts to protect privacy. The latest no tracking default option is an example. Yet for as long as I can remember, perhaps back to the founding days of Firefox, the default cookie acceptance behavior is to accept third party cookies.

Try this.

  • Open Preferences.
  • Select the Privacy tab.
  • In the History section, select Use custom settings for history.
  • Disable Accept cookies from sites.
  • Close the dialog.
  • Open Preferences.
  • Select the Privacy tab.
  • Enable Accept cookies from sites.

Notice the option Accept third-party cookies from sites automatically changes to Always.

The default should be Never.

Sigh.
