Debian 10 and WINE

The stock Debian 10 includes WINE 4.0. The newer 5.0 is available upstream by adding a repository. The 5.0 version requires a libfaudio0 package that is not available in the stock Debian 10 or backports. The package must be installed manually.

While using 5.0 is straightforward, doing so is a nominal step towards creating an infamous FrankenDebian.

At work as I am migrating Ubuntu systems to Debian, I decided not to travel down that potential rabbit hole. We use only one program that needs WINE and the 4.0 version works just fine.

No need for bleeding edge.
